The picturesque Ceramics District (li cameni in the local dialect), with its piles of vases stacked in the streets, squares and on the roofs of the tuff houses blackened by the furnaces. There are around fifty artisan workshops – among these, generally very old, some dating back to the 1400s – generally dug into the tuff or covered with barrel or star vaults, and are developed in rooms located at various levels underground and connected by ladders of stone.
