Discover Ostuni, the White City, so called for its dazzling whitewashed walls that illuminate its historic center. Perched on a hill and protected by its ancient ramparts, Ostuni stands austere and majestic, gazing out to sea, separated from the coast only by an immense expanse of centuries-old olive trees.
Our walk begins in one of its most evocative corners: the medieval hanging gardens at the foot of the city walls. A true sanctuary of biodiversity, these gardens preserve ancient varieties of Apulian vegetables, including those native to Ostuni itself.
Following the route of the walls, we’ll visit a small artisanal dairy to discover the centuries-old art of making stretched-curd cheeses. Then, strolling through the city’s winding alleys, we’ll head to one of Ostuni’s historic bakeries, guided by the warm aroma of focaccia and onion calzone rising from the ovens. We conclude the tour with a tasting of a local wine from the Itria Valley, combined with a short masterclass on Apulian winemaking. The experience is accompanied by small seasonal tastings of local products.
